Albox is known for The Sanctuary of the Virgen el Saliente, built in the 18th century, it is the most important architectural jewel that the municipality has, it was also declared a historical-artistic monument. The town continues to have one of the oldest active pottery workshops in the province of Almería.
Albox is a town for lovers of hiking and outdoor excursions, starting from Albox you can organize routes on foot or by bicycle. The most attractive are from Albox to Los Vélez through the Saliente and from Velez Rubio to Oria. Albox is only 30-40 minutes from the beaches of Vera, Mojacar, Garrucha etc. Also, about an hour away are the famous beaches such as: Playa de los Muertos (Cabo de Gata), Playa de Monsul (Cabo de Gata), Playa de los Gevoneses etc. If you are a lover of nature and hiking, also one hour away is the wild landscape of Tabernas, with its 280 square kilometers of desert that are protected under the recognition of a natural park. This unique landscape has attracted major film production companies from all over the world since the 1950s, especially the American ones loaded with their film equipment.
Albox has a lot to offer, a variety of shops, pharmacies, specialty stores, supermarkets, schools, secondary education and there is a medical center. On Tuesdays there is a weekly market where many (regional) products are offered. This day people from all over the area come to Albox to do some pleasant shopping, have a coffee, a drink and a tapa or simply to savor the atmosphere. On Saturdays there is another fruit and vegetable market.
The most popular festivals in the municipality of Albox are: on September 7, pilgrimage to the Virgin of Saliente.
It is when the religious pilgrimage takes place, leaving from the Plaza Mayor de Albox, until reaching the Sanctuary of Saliente. This festival has been declared of Andalusian Tourist Interest. On September 8 the day of the Virgen del Saliente is celebrated. On November 1, the cattle fair, in the past was one of the most important cattle fairs in Spain. The San Francisco fair, which takes place on October 4. Holy Week in Albox is a week of processions where the steps of their brotherhoods come out.
